Why does oil always float on water?

Image
In a simple experiment, bring a glass of water then add some oil, what do you notice? Yes, they do not mix. what else? The oil will float on water even if you try to stir it, it returns to the top again. Why does oil float on water  In other experiments, such as adding sugar or salt to water they come down to the bottom of the glass and begin to dissolve after a few seconds, this does not happen with oil thanks to the density. Read: why don't oil and water mix What is density: it is the measurement of the mass of an object compared to its volume. simpler definition: it is how heavy are objects compared to their volumes, for example  1 kg of iron vs 1 kg of cork same mass but different volume, iron is way heavier than cork thus iron is more dense than cork.   We find density by the formula:  ρ = mass / Volume The density of water is 1 g/cm³ while oil's is between 0.7 to 0.9 g/cm³, a scientific rule states that the body with less density than the fluid, it floats. So oil floats o

Why don't we feel Earth move?

Image
Space contains billions of celestial bodies including our planet, the Earth. Everything in space moves, the Earth rotates on its axis every 24 hours at speed of 460 m/s and around the sun every 365.25 days at speed of 100k km/h. However we don't feel Earth move and everything seems to be still, this is probably what made the ancients believe the planet is stationary, but later science proved that all celestial bodies spin: stars, moons, planets and galaxies. Why don't we feel Earth move It is possible to prove the Earth's orbit on its axis by the succession of night and day, where the side facing the sun causes day and the other side is night and during the rotation the sides change and so on, If the planet were stationary, it would be day or night on each side forever.    The rotation of the earth around the sun can be inferred by the change of the four seasons as a result of the tilt of the Earth's axis. But how come we don't actually feel earth's

Why does leap year occur

Image
Leap year is a little bit confusing, regularly years consist of 365 days but when leap year occurs, it has additional day making it totally 366 days, Though all that confusion it is not that complicated. Why does leap year occur ,It takes the Earth 365 days and about 6 hours to complete an orbit around the sun, this could cause an error if the 6 hours are not added in some way, this means that the calendar will start a new year 6 hours before the Earth's rotation around the sun. Julius Caesar was who invented "leap year" idea when he made a huge changes in the calendar, he decided to add an extra day every 4 years (6+6+6+6=24: 1 day), February is the month that increases probably because it is the shortest, later Gregorian calendar added more accurate edits. Leap year occurs every 4 years, it has to be perfectly dividable to 4 such as 2000, 2004, 2008... Note that years which are dividable to 100 but not to 400 like 1800 are not leap years. Last leap year: 2020 Next one

Why did Zidane headbutt Materazzi

Image
On July 9, 2006 in Germany, Berlin, the World Cup final between France and Italy was being held at Olympiastadion stadium. 7' Zidane scored a goal from a penalty kick, 19' Materazzi's goal assisted by Pirlo. First half ended 1-1 draw and no goals in second half, went to extra time and then the 110th minute… Zidane headbutt Materazzi leading to red card for the French team's star, the rest is known. I don't know how to describe this incident from the spectators' point of view, bizzare? shocking? What the hell is going on here? Spectators were watching the two teams heading to extra time to fight for the beautiful cup, a contact between the scorers, then surprisingly Zidane headbutted Materazzi. We can say that this moment stole the lights from the tournament itself and don't forget it was Zidane's last match so the fact that red card was the last moment of his career added more drama to the story. What did Materazzi say to Zidane? Many rumors claimed

Image
"Dettol kills 99.9% of germs" we've heard that, in every advertising for the well-known disinfectant, ever since it has been so popular and has achieved great sales and customer trust, customers have been very curious to know the reason behind this phrase, i t's very misleading and confusing which leads to misperceptions to consumers, some of them   would explain it as Dettol kills 99.9 germs and one germ remains to reproduce and make a clan again. It's hilarious that some have thought this is a malicious plan from the company so that you have to buy the product over and over again and that's exactly why it was described as "confusing". Why does Dettol kill 99.9% of germs? First of all, is that explanation above right? It might seem logical to consumers but no it's totally wrong. Pathogens are different types, each type has a different composition and therefore different ways to fight them, So to make it more accurate, Dettol kills 99.9% (types)

Why are pre-season matches important

Image
Before the beginning of each season, football clubs prepare for a new season after the vacations of players and technical staff have ended. Each team begins to face other teams in friendly matches called the Pre-season, Although the results of these matches are not counted because they are not official, the Pre-season matches are important. You may think they are just useless friendly matches and you may not even bother to watch them, Here are some of the reasons why pre-season matches are important, and that might change your mind: Warm up for the new season The season is usually very tough and full of competition: big clubs compete to win a continental or domestic tournament, average clubs compete to qualify for tournaments while smaller clubs struggle to stay in the league without being relegated. Therefore, it is really important to consider these matches as a warm-up for the players after they stop playing for the summer vacation, without giving the players the opportunity to wa
